Interns complete placements that are tailored to the distinct needs and interests of each intern. The Program prioritizes the wellbeing of interns and ensures that interns have a full and rewarding professional, academic and living experience in China. Interns are exposed to the most pressing issues of the day and deep involvement allows interns to build unique skills that will help them to become competitive candidates for future opportunities in their respective fields.

The China Studies Institute was created by American University (AU) in 1985 and began operating independently in 2004 while still maintaining a strong institutional affiliation with AU. The Institute collaborates with the Peking University (Beida) and the Shanghai University.
