Published: 2005
ISBN #0-9767102-0-x

Price: $45

To make a dwelling place a complete work of art, in itself as expressive and beautiful and more intimately related to life than anything detached such as sculpture or painting, lending itself freely and suitably to the individual needs of the dwellers. . . . this is the American opportunity.
—Frank Lloyd Wright from House Beautiful magazine

During his remarkably prolific 70-year career, Frank Lloyd Wright was committed not only to the development of a truly American style of architecture, but also to the creation of furnishings and accessories that were both functional and beautiful to enhance the surroundings in his revolutionary spaces. This exhibition catalogue accompanies the national tour of Frank Lloyd Wright and the House Beautiful and presents his passion for creating a new way of life for Americans through architecture. In particular, it focuses on his skill in creating harmony between the architectural structure and interior design while fulfilling the needs of a modern, American lifestyle. With more than 100 original objects including furniture, metal work, textiles, drawings, publications, and accessories from the collection of the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, Scottsdale, Arizona, and other public and private collections, the exhibition is the first devoted to the noted architect’s decorative and graphic designs since the 1970s.

Sculpture Transformed
The Art of Marjorie Schick

by Tacey A. Rosolowski

8.25”x 9.75” Soft Cover, 36 pages
Published: 2006
ISBN #978-0-9767102-2-6

Price: $15

Sculpture Transformed incorporates 67 objects that exemplify 40 years of Schick’s experimentation with form, texture, and color. Her “body sculptures” are most often seen in the form of large-scale head ornaments, massive ceremonial collars, cloaks, and back sculptures that seem to soar from the wearer. This hallmark exhibition highlights these acclaimed “body sculptures,” while taking the viewer on a voyage through a visual evolution of Schick’s style. In addition to representing Schick’s wearable art constructions, this spectacular retrospective will include Schick’s renowned trompe l’oeil creations of everyday objects. These pieces vividly transform and interpret the mundane: a bracelet masquerades as a teapot while a portion of a brick sidewalk becomes a cloak; a necklace entangles the wearer in glowing threads reminiscent of a dew spangled spider web. Works in this second grouping will invite the visitor into a unique artistic sensibility that generates uniquely aesthetic connections from everyday experience.
