Bart Oosterveld
Bart is the Chief Criteria Officer of Fitch Ratings. The teams he leads independently evaluate and approve for use all of Fitch’s rating methodologies and models, track the performance of its ratings, and facilitate the reporting on these topics to Fitch’s board and regulators. Before joining Fitch in 2022, Bart was a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council, an international affairs thinktank, and an independent advisor to companies and governments in the areas of macroeconomic, credit, and country risk. Bart additionally served as a senior advisor at ACG Analytics, an investment fund advisory firm. Prior to joining the Atlantic Council in 2017, Bart worked at Moody’s for almost two decades. In his last role there, he was responsible for credit strategy in the Americas. Among other positions, he was also chair of the company’s Macroboard, global head of sovereign ratings, and management representative to the company’s board of directors. Bart graduated with degrees in the philosophy of law and the history of Spanish literature from the University of Amsterdam. He holds master’s degrees in public policy from Columbia University and in economics from Georgetown University.
